When Hubby Tempts Me With A Good Time

I'm sitting on the couch,  minding my business when hubby says, "wanna go get a cocktail?" That's how it goes some nights for us on date nights.  There are no plans, just vibes, good food and strong cocktails.

We've been outside quite often these last few weeks. Some impromptu outings and others planned and curated by me because I saw a place I wanna try. But sometimes the best dates are the ones unplanned. And of coarse I had to capture the memories.

Starting off with these infused cocktails

Soberanos is an Asian inspired restaurant in Barrio Escalante that offers a wide array on their menu, including this delicious peanut butter based drink that had us wowed.

Hubby was impressed with his fish tacos

And I loved the sauce that came with these dumplings,  I could have drank it like soup.

Off to Pizza Hub we went on a random Thursday night for PiƱa coladas and their yummy margarita pizza. What a time.

We Got The Pros

We finally got the professional photos from my son's college graduation so, of course,  I had to share.

I am so proud.  Watching him grow into the man he is becoming brings me such joy. I absolutely love being his mom.

Because Good Food And Drinks Make Me Happy

Hubby and I love a good date day, date night and a 'just because we can' date. It's a chance for us to spend time together while also trying out new and fun places to eat. I love discovering new restaurants that we can add to our roster and since we both love good food, finding an excuse for a date outing is the perfect way to discover the next best place with amazing dishes.

Food is life but it's also fun and every date needs to have a food component to feel complete.  Let's see where we went this past week.

An impromptu stop in the middle of the day after running a few errands was the perfect way to replenish and the bar and restaurant El Higueron in San Pedro was the perfect place.

The strawberry daquairi was divine and exactly what I needed. And the Carribean style rice and beans were delicious.  Some of the best rice and beans I'd had in a long time. It was super flavorful and just the perfect way to satisfy my craving.

I love a random date night, when after the kitchen is closed and I'm done being mom for the night, hubby suggests we go have cocktails somewhere.

We stopped into Terraza 97 in Barrio Escalante to see what the vibes were and although we loved the decor and aesthetics,  we were in search of something else.

It was giving Pinterest and Instagram vibes, the perfect photo op. The menu was ok so we might have to run it back.

Off we went to Zuntra because a re-visit was necessary.  It was still too early for the party vibes but the music was blasting and the menu had what we were looking for.

The cocktails were strong and had me super lit after just two and the food was really good too. The perfect light bite for the occasion.

The fish and chips were a hit. The fish was light and tasty and had the perfect amount of flavor.

The Birria tacos were a 10 out of 10. Highly recommend, I could not get enough.

As if our Saturday night outing wasn't enough, Sunday brought about another date day, this time with the little in tow because he wanted to be included and he also loves a good bite to eat.

Marellar in Central Market had been calling my name for weeks. After popping up on my Facebook feed weeks earlier, I bookmarked the restaurant for a visit and they did not disappoint.

Two for one sangrias, yes please.  And they were good. The fish croquetas were the best bites of the day, super crispy on the outside, nice and meaty on the inside with tons of flavor. It was a 10 out of 10 dish.

The spread was delicious and we all enjoyed our meals. The fried whole fish with rice and beans was the whole reason for my visit to be honest,  and it was definitely worth the visit.

And to top it all off, we had to have dessert. The pie de limon caught my eye and it was incredible.  Like I said I love a good date outing but more importantly,  I love when discovering new restaurants pay off. Food was good, staff was good, vibes were good. It was the perfect Sunday.

Mother's Day Tica Style

I get to celebrate two Mother's Days every year because I live in Costa Rica and it makes my heart so happy. Costa Rican Mother's day is in August but my original day of celebration is in May. So I get both and I relish in that fact.  This year, like every year, all I wanted was to go out and have a good meal. And this time I went with hubby, a friend and her family.  The day was magical and I can't wait to celebrate being a mom again real soon.

Can a girl ask for anything more than good food and good company? I think not.
