Dating My Husband Again

We all know how important it is to keep the spark alive in a marriage. This becomes even more important the older your kids get and the closer spouses get to becoming empty nesters. What do you do when all your children have grown up and gone on to live their own lives? If you don't find the time to stay connected now while your kids are home, you will find yourselves at a disconnect once the kids have left.

Now that all four of our kids are in school full time, we get a taste of what it's like not having our kids at home. What better use of this time than to start dating my hubby again. Quality time together is pretty rare. He's always working and I always have something I have to do. But while the kids are at school, we can carve out a few hours to spend together and a few hours is all it really takes to ignite that spark and keep the love going strong.

Recently we took some time to go on a breakfast date, something we'd actually not done before and it was nice. Just the two of us having breakfast together never happens at home, so the whole experience left me wanting more

That same week, we went out to lunch. We don't always need to go out and food doesn't always have to be involved but it was nice being out and about during the day time without kids.

Girls Night Out

Now that the world is finally opening back up and life is starting to return to normal, gatherings have become a thing again. And so to commemorate this momentous moment of normalcy returning, hubby's cousins planned a girls night out for thier sister's birthday.

I had not been out on a girls night in a very long time. I'd also not been out on the town in such fashion since the pandemic so it was definitely due.

We congregated at a restaurant bar local that had live music, good food, strong drinks and a surprising amount of people, who were all probably glad to finally be allowed to go out. I had a blast and look forward to more outings in the future.

Back To School

And just like that, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened the last two years, my baby returned to school for his first full day. Now a full fledged third grader, he will finally be able to experience school the way he should have, in a classroom with his classmates by side.

Was It A Date Night?

It had been a long time since hubby and I went out on an official date night, so when we decided to go out with our middle son in tow, I wondered if we could consider that a date night even though it wasn't just the two of us.

I considered it a date night or more accurately, a day date. We tried a new restaurant called Bostons, which was really pretty good and we even bought some gelato to take home. And even though our 13 year old son was with us, it did feel like a date night to me.

First Day Back

February isn't just the month of love, in Costa Rica it marks the back to school season. This year, I am hopeful. Hopeful that things will go back to normal, at least somewhat and my kids will have a successful academic school year.

My oldest actually started his college classes in January and he is still 100 percent virtual. However, my three younger children will most likely be going back to school in person, barring any unforeseen complications from the Covid 19 vaccination mandates.

This past week, my middle son and daughter started their back to school journey, my daughter in her 9th year and my son in his 8th. And thankfully, both are now in the same school, having switched my son from his previous highschool because of his disappointing experience. Now, I can look forward to a year  hopefully filled with fun new experiences and a better scholastic performance.

Like I said, I am hopeful and that is all that matters right now.
