Learning History Through Play

One of the best ways to learn about something is to be hands-on. When it comes to History, there's more to it than just reading a book.  When my kids have a history project, they do more than just write a report. They study the culture, learn the language,  make the food, and design the clothing.  They get hands on and immerse themselves into their work. That helps them to understand the culture that much more.

All the different cultures and people from a Roman guard to a Gypsy to a Japanese Geisha

And on another academic note, my 9 year old's 4th grade class won 1st place in the school's Science fair. I am indeed a proud parent.

A Lowkey Father's Day

We love celebrating holidays in this house, big or small, I love going all out to make the day seem special and different from every other day. Every holiday deserves recognition and that includes Father's Day.

Good father's deserve to be celebrated everyday but it's nice to have a day just for them.

Every holiday gets a special meal in my house, a way for us to come together as a family and recognize the importance of the day by breaking bread as a unit.

So even though Father's day was pretty lowkey this year, I was able to make the day memorable by serving a delicious to the father of my children.

So Much Wedding Prep Plus Our Food Tasting

I've been a busy bee, running around to appointments and getting last minute prep done for our upcoming vow renewal.

First up was my brow retouch. I recently got the powder brows micropigmentation tatoo done on my brows and had to go in for my second round recently. I'm just tired of not having amazing looking brows and wanted to fill them in as permanently as I could.

I knew microblading wasn't for me so I decided on the powder brows technique. Brows frame the face and not having great brows really made my face feel incomplete. I cannot wait to see the final results.

Next up was finding my rehearsal dinner outfit. Facebook marketplace to the rescue again as I found the perfect white, bridal looking dress for just $10!

Then before we knew it, the long anticipated tasting for our wedding renewal menu had arrived. I was so excited that the day had finally come.

To be honest, the tasting went great. We were able to finalize a lot of the fine details and complete the timeline for the day. The setting was wonderful and our coordinator and emcee were amazing.

the menu was delicious and I was able to make a few adjustments. However, I was not able to freely customize the menu as much I would have liked, at least not without spending even more money. So disappointment set in and left me wanting more. However, looking back I realize I almost made the issue into mountain when in reality there was no issue to begin with.

July 7th is fast approaching and I am relishing every second until the day.

Another Wedding Expo

I'm obsessed! Plain and simple. My life revolves around all things wedding right now. I sleep, eat and breathe my upcoming renewal and it has made me so excited for this whole event.  Not to mention how excited other people are for us, it's just such and incredible feeling.

As I am currently wedding obsessed, I, of course, want to do as many wedding related things as I possibly can before the big day.  One Bridal expo just wasn't enough, I had to attend another one. Expo Boda 2023 at the Crowne Plaza hotel was an experience and I'm glad I went, unnecessary or not.

There were a few vendors that caught my eye and I loved all the little freebies, of course. But honestly,  It was just an excuse to spend some quality time with my bridesmaid daughter and do something a little different. Plus, it didn't hurt that it was wedding related.

Oh and I finally made it to the brand new Krispy Kreme doughnut shop. It was so worth the wait
