It was the last getaway before the start of school, to a place called La Cruz in Costa Rica and to a beach named Rajada. It was the perfect little escape for the family as we soaked up the the last bits of freedom before our school year routine takes effect in a week and a half. I feel so blessed to have been able to escape life twice this month. And I now fully look forward to back to school: all the prep, all the shopping, packing lunches again. I have to admit, I'm not looking forward to homework or exams but that's part of life at this point with school aged kids. I just hope the year passes quickly, or at least quick enough for us to enjoy another beach getaway.

So while the kids still have a few blessed weeks left of summer break, I am trying to cram in as many fun activities as we can afford before they all head back to school. I have to say I am enjoying the time we have left to just enjoy our lazy summer days even though I am excited to get back to a routine. But summer is always just so much fun and I definitely want to have all the fun memories with the kids while they're still young. In my mind, there is just so much to do and very little time left to do it.

Since the kids are still on summer break here in Costa Rica, I am trying to plan as many fun activities as I can without overloading us with a ton to do because we still want to just enjoy our time off. Not having much to do, being home taking it slow and just going with the flow is really what summer break is all about. I relish summer days. It seems now that time just flies by, so soaking up all this time off is bliss.

We've had some really awesome family vacations. The kind that make us want to live at the beach year round and sip drinks by the pool and enjoy sunsets on the sand. Vacations that we never want to end. And every year we try to plan a vacation that we can enjoy to the fullest. This year, while our vacation was not exactly perfect, it was a really nice way to spend a few days away from real life.

It wouldn't be New years Eve without a trip to the amusement park. That has been our tradition now for the past 4 to 5 years. It always proves to be the best day to visit the park with few people and hardly any lines. It was also the perfect sunny and breezy day with blue skies all around. The perfect way to spend the very last day in 2018.
