When Age 17 Hits, We Shoot Paint

 My 'middle' born son turned 17 on the 16th, and I was too geeked to throw him a party. I was going to stick to the usual dinner out and cake at home, but he has friends now and I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate his special day in a more epic setting.

So, paintball it was. We found a spot nearby, booked the day and I planned out the menu according to the birthday boy. Subway sandwiches,  chicken wings, cheese filled puff pastries and pizza. The kids were in food heaven. I even bought a slice of sugar free cake for my son, so he could have cake on his birthday. 

The day was practically perfect. Just a little rain right before the paintball session began and then the boys were off, shooting each other into oblivion and having the best time.

Another Parade Day

 As an honorary Costa Rican, of course I celebrate independence with the rest. This year, both boys were in the parade, so I had to go. But I love a parade so I was going to attend one regardless.  Here are the image captures from the day.

The 12th Year

 It has finally happened.  My baby has made it to his 12th year of life. It seems as if it was only yesterday we welcomed him into the world, and yet here he is, an adolescente. 

Finding out I was pregnant with him was such a shock but what a blessing he turned out to be. I guess my job as a mother to an infant wasn't over just yet. He came into our lives like the miracle he is and it has been a wonderful journey ever since. I look forward to many more birthdays.

Carribean Carnival At Puerto Viejo Beach

 A week after we got back home from our epic Jamaican vacation, we were off again. This time to Puerto Viejo, for a weekend beach getaway. 

This vacation was quick, short and local, at just a 4 hour drive away.  Our cousin was in town and really wanted us to go on a little vacation together and we couldn't say no. So we booked a hotel and headed off to one of our favorite spots in Costa Rica. We were looking forward to being back on the Carribean side; It had been 3 years since our last visit.

The highlight of the trip was the Carribean carnival parade, a pleasant surprise and massive treat. I'd never been to the parade and had always wanted to go so that experience was incredible. Of course, Puerto Viejo is always a good time and we already have plans to go back  soon.

Puerto Viejo was such a vibe. The sun was out and it was hot. It was the perfect little beach vacation.
