It's July

Already it's July and about 3 days until Independence Day. I am looking forward to the 4th of July picnic this Sunday at the Cerveceria in Alajuela. It's an annual event organized and hosted by the American Colony Committee here in Costa Rica.

I've only been once, last year. But it was so much fun, I look forward to it this year again. It's nice to be able to celebrate things like that, especially for American citizens far away from home and missing some of it's comforts.

There won't be any fire works, but there will be plenty to do. From free beers for those who want it, to free hot dogs and activities for the kids and entertainment for everyone.

The festivities begin at 8 am, with a pause in activity for the traditional Flag Ceremony led by uniformed members of the United States Marines.

The price is $5 (c2.500 colones) and American citizens must bring their passports for entry. Kids under 5 are free.
